Text Box: READING NEWS
As you know, MSA begins the first week of April, with the Reading portion being administered on April 1st and 2nd. Many parents often ask “What can I do to help my child be successful on the MSA”? It’s really quite easy. During the days of testing, make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast and arrives at school on time. We try to make the assessments as stress-free as possible. Throughout the school year, the children have worked diligently to learn strategies to help make them successful readers. MSA is a time for them to show how much they’ve learned.

Once MSA is over, sometimes children want to “slack off”. While it is completely understandable to want to relax, we still have 2 months of school left. Instruction and learning will continue until the last day of the school year. Children should read daily and think about what they’re reading; always striving to do their best. A couple of things we can do for our children is help them understand the importance of being a good reading, then supporting them in their efforts, and giving them confidence to believe in themselves and their ability. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact your child’s teacher or me.
