Once again this year Choptank Elementary has been selected as a Professional Development School in partnership with Salisbury University.  This partnership provides a learning community for future teachers and also allows for the continuing professional development for Choptank teachers and Salisbury University faculty, working together to improve practice and enhance students achievement.

As I write throughout the year you will notice acronyms and terms you may not be familiar with.  Below is a explanation:

· SU-Salisbury University

· PDS-Professional Development School-                                                                                    (That’s Choptank Elementary)

· Candidate—Students from Salisbury University that will be observing in classrooms for approximately 20 hours per semester.

· Intern—These students are co-teaching for an 8 week period of time with a Choptank teacher.  They are in the classroom all day for 8 weeks.

The Choptank teacher is known as the Mentor Teacher.

We welcome the following new faces from SU:

Their pictures will be appearing on our PDS bulletin board just outside of the main office.  Please notice our SU partnership banner over it.   This partnership is a wonderful honor for Choptank!

We are very excited to have this wonderful group in our school.  They have enhanced, supported and been an invaluable asset to our students and staff.
