"Walls cannot embrace a library.  It is more than a place, more than books and films and records, more even than the people who make it work.  Basically a library is a gathering of ideas, of information-- put in order and shared.  And, the sharing is the whole point of a library."

Circulation:

Students in grades Pre-K – 4 may check one book at a time.  Students in grade 5 may check out up to 2 books at a time.

The books are stamped and should be returned within one week.

Students may return their books  earlier by bringing them to the media in the morning and then they may check out another book.

Students may renew a book, if they need it longer than one week.

There are NO fines for turning books in late, however if books are damaged or lost they must be paid for by the end of the school year.

Reading Challenge:

The Media Center is sponsoring a reading challenge to all Choptank students this year.  I am encouraging all students to become STAR READERS.  Students must read and respond to 10 books from November until May 9, 2008.  All students completing the challenge will be rewarded at the end of the year with a celebration.

Any questions regarding this event may be sent to me, Susan Shimek, at shimeks@dcpsmd.org or call the school and leave a message and I will return your call (410-228-4950).

Computers:

Students may not surf the internet at any time.

Students should be on programs designated by the teacher at all times.
