For the 2007-2008 school year, Choptank Elementary serves approximately 300 pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. The school employs a principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, professional development coach, reading facilitator, math facilitator, nurse, three special education teachers, a speech/language teacher, media specialist, art teacher, music/band teacher, physical education teacher, nineteen regular classroom teachers, seven instructional assistants, a full-time secretary, and a part-time secretary.
Choptank Elementary is also a Professional Development School working in collaboration with Salisbury University. As part of their college training, students majoring in education are assigned to experienced teachers at Choptank to continue their teacher training. Choptank has an active School Improvement Team, Parent Advisory Council, and Parent Teacher Organization.
